Education Section is an office of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Manchester that is responsible for education exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK. The main works are as follows:

　　1. Facilitating and promoting education exchanges and cooperation with the education sectors such as Higher Education Institutions, Secondary Schools, Primary Schools and education offices of the local governments in the consular regions;

　　2. Liaison with the Chinese students and scholars under the sponsorship of the Chinese Government as well as the students and scholars of self-finance who are studying in the consular regions;

　　3. Offering necessary support to the local students who are going to study in China, dealing with the application for a scholarship from the Chinese Government, etc.;

　　4. Promoting Chinese language and culture teaching, offering support in setting up Confucius Institute and Confucius Classroom in the local universities or schools;

　　5. Assisting the Chinese students and scholars to go back to China for work;

　　6. Dealing with the application for a Letter of Accreditation which is needed for the UK education institutions to cooperate with Chinese education institutions or agents.
